El Mosquito has probably been the most fun site to design from a purely design aspect, but getting the site to be as functional was a bit of a challenge.

The first thing that came to mind when I heard that we are doing a site for a tattoo shop, was to create a shop front with the feel of the alley and broken bear bottles with stumped out joints on the sidewalk.But we did'nt want to give the "bad" impression about our client.

In keeping with the idea, we initially just made the building with a streetfront view in daylight, but admittedly this looked a bit bland. We the decided to add some darkness to the picture with lights coming from the wall and some additional light through the door.

We then used the shop window as our only content space. Because this limits the amount of content you can see initially, we used a scrolling div to allow us to add more content into the area and then just made sure to put as uch usefull info as possible above the fold.
